Against All Odds: Rayo Vallecano to boost their survival hopes

You have to go back all the way to December 19th for Deportivo's last win of any description as since their 2-0 success over Eibar they have played seven times, drawing three of them and losing four. It's also worth noting that prior to that victory, they have drawn three in a row.

Considering their relatively lofty position in the table, Víctor Sánchez's side just don't win very often. They have taken all three points on only six occasions this term, which is actually one of the lowest totals in La Liga.

Opponents, Rayo Vallecano, had been struggling badly for form but they picked up a resounding 3-0 win over Celta Vigo the last time we saw them and that ended a run of 10 without a victory.

Paco Jémez's men will be hoping to build on that and while they have taken a couple of heavy losses on the road this season, they have also won at Las Palmas, and drawn at Getafe and Valencia - the latter coming in their last away fixture.

The hosts just aren't a team to put any faith in and with the visitors buoyed by their latest result, I can't see this one being a routine home win. Which is why, with Deportivo trading at around the1.96 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
