Gold Coast Titans v Manly Sea Eagles
Sunday, April 8, 2pm (AEST)
Marley Brown Oval, Gladstone

The Titans were thumped 54-8 by the Dragons in Round 3, but bounced back in the best possible way last week with a shock 26-14 win over the Broncos. Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles also responded in strong fashion after their 34-6  loss to the Rabbitohs in Round 3, with a 32-16 victory over the Raiders. Unfortunately the win came at a cost, with Curtis Sironen and Kelepi Tanginoa both suffering ACL injuries, while Tom Trbojevic picked up an ankle injury and looks long odds of taking his place here. One positive is the return of Dylan Walker from a long injury layoff.
FormGold Coast are 11th on the ladder with a 2-2 record after a contrasting two weeks where they were hammered in Toowoomba by St George Illawarra before they blitzed Brisbane at Suncorp with a stunning 26-14 victory. The Titans rank 10th in scoring but are the second worst defensive team. Manly are fifth on the ladder, also with a 2-2 record, following their 32-16 embarrassment of Canberra. Both Manly’s wins this year have come at Brookvale. The Sea Eagles have the second best attack but the eighth ranked defence.
Key MatchupAshley Taylor v Daly Cherry-Evans: The depth in the Queensland halves stocks is ridiculous! Both Ashley Taylor and Daly Cherry-Evans get the chance to put their best foot forward in front of selectors and would love to get one over their opposite number here.  Both players have had one big match already this season, but it’s consistency that will get either player the Maroons jersey this year or down the track.

Stats That Matter– Gold Coast are 2-2 ATS with a 2-2 total record while Manly are also 2-2 ATS with a 2-2 total number.
– Manly have won 10 of the 16 all-time meetings against the Gold Coast, including four of the last five.
– Eight of the last nine matches have failed to surpass 40 points.
– Four of the last five meetings have been decided by margins of 18 or more.
– The Sea Eagles have covered just three of their last away from Brookvale after scoring 30.
– The over is 16-9 in Titans games away from Skilled during the day.
Final ThoughtsThe Wolf was very impressed with the Titans against the Broncos last week, but the Sea Eagles led by DCE should be able to throw more at them this week. The loss of Tommy Turbo is a massive blow, but the Sea Eagles have won four of the past five matches against the Titans. The match will also be played in Gladstone, so the Titans lose their home advantage too. Sea Eagles in a tight one, with golden point a real possibility.
