Super Rugby Round 7 – Preview, Expert Betting Tips & Odds

The Super Rugby season continues to roll on and we’re seeing a changing market. Some teams have separated themselves from the pack, but it has been such a competitive season to date.
Round 7 features seven quality games and we look at the form and best bets for every Super Rugby game.

5:05pm Chiefs vs. Hurricanes @ FMG Stadium

The Chiefs are now at the top of the New Zealand conference after an impressive performance over the Waratahs last week. The 51-14 victory came after they were down by a point at the half, showing their dominance over the Australian sides.
They come against a desperate Hurricanes side this week, which have won three of their five games, but remain in fourth in the NZ conference.
A loss at home to the Blues didn’t help their credentials, but they had 12 men on the park at one stage.
The Chiefs are the better team and should be too good at home.

2:25pm Blues vs. Lions @ Eden Park

The Blues have stepped up recently after an average start to the season. They have now won four in a row, including a two-game road trip to South Africa.
They now return to Eden Park to face the Lions, which haven’t looked good down under. They’re coming off a 37-17 defeat at the hands of the Rebels, and the Blues could impose more hurt.
The Auckland-based franchise has title ambitions this season and if their defense is as good as it was against the Hurricanes last week, they could well win it all.

4:25pm Crusaders vs. Sunwolves @ Suncorp Stadium

It’s a rescheduled game for the Crusaders and Sunwolves, which takes place at Suncorp Stadium in Queensland.
The Crusaders weren’t at their usual best last week against the Reds, holding on to win 24-20 in a tight tussle. They were expected to score easily, so it was a down performance.
However, they take on the struggling Sunwolves, which couldn’t kick on from their early season win. They lost 47-14 to the Brumbies last week, and in their final season, it doesn’t bode well.
The Crusaders will have too many guns and they could run in a cricket score.
Betting tip: Crusaders to win
Crusaders by 48

7:15pm Reds vs. Bulls @ Suncorp Stadium

The second game of the Suncorp double-header sees the improved Reds take on the gritty Bulls.
The Reds pushed the Crusaders close last week when losing by four points. It’s a performance that could see them find some mid-season form.
However, consistency has never been the Reds strength and the Bulls head to Australia full of confidence after their big win over the Highlanders.
It was the Bulls’ first win of the season and it came emphatically with a 38-13 win over the Highlanders. Travelling to Australia won’t help their cause, but they should be respected.
We’re going with the Reds in a close game.

12:15am Sharks vs. Stormers @ Kings Park Stadium

The Sharks were impressive winners over the Jaguares last week, and it should give them plenty of confidence. They currently lead the South African conference with five wins from six games, so it’s a good start from the Sharks.
The Stormers are coming off a bye week, which followed their first loss of the season. It was a much-needed rest for the Stormers, who will look to retake the top spot in the conference.
However, the Sharks are playing great rugby at the moment and playing at home is only going to help their cause. They should be too strong, in what could be the game of the round.
Betting tip: Sharks to win

10:00am Jaguares vs. Highlanders @ Estadio Jose Amalfitani

It’s desperate times for the Highlanders, who haven’t been able to get going this season. They have only one win from five games, and they were soundly beaten by the Bulls last week.
They come up against a Jaguares team that needs to start showing some fight as well. Another loss to a South African team came last week against the Sharks, but returning home helps.
The pre-season expectations for the Jaguares were high, probably unfairly so, but they could start living up to the hype now.
Confidence levels with the Highlanders are low, so expect the Jaguares to run them around the park.
Betting tip: Jaguares to win

4:05pm Brumbies vs. Waratahs @ GIO Stadium

The Brumbies have looked the best of the Australian teams this year with four wins from five games. It’s the opposite for the struggling Waratahs, which have won only one game.
The Australian conference is in the hands of the Brumbies and Rebels, so there’s less pressure on them here. However, the Waratahs are offering little this season and that should continue.
Stick with the Brumbies on Sunday afternoon.
