La Liga Betting: Athletic defence can withstand Barca blitz

Athletic Bilbao have one of the best defences in La Liga and Dan Fitch thinks they can make it tough for Barcelona, as he previews Tuesday's matches...

Bilbao can test Barcelona

Barcelona 1.39 v Athletic Bilbao 9.00; The Draw 5.40

Barcelona need to get back to winning ways when they host Athletic Bilbao on Tuesday.
Quique Setien's side dropped their first points since the season restarted when they travelled to Sevilla on Friday. Barcelona dominated the game, but could not make a breakthrough against a disciplined Sevilla defence. Though Barca deserved to win, they could have very easily lost the game, with Sevilla having some good chances to score.
Barcelona have yet to concede a goal since the season resumed, but both Sevilla and their previous opponents Leganes were presented with opportunities against them. That's a worry against an Athletic Bilbao side that possess a cutting edge and are very good defensively.
Bilbao won their first match since the season restarted on Saturday, with a 1-0 victory over Real Betis. They had drawn their previous two post-lockdown games, holding Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw in the first of them.
This looks like a serious test for Barcelona and their price of 1.39 to win, doesn't represent very good value. What does look good value is the 2.46 for under 2.5 goals. This bet has landed in two of the last three games, for both Barcelona and Bilbao. The visitors have the third best defence in La Liga and beat Barcelona 1-0 in the reverse fixture.

Third successive clean sheet for Atletico

Levante 6.00 v Atletico Madrid 1.67; The Draw 3.90

Both Levante and Atletico Madrid are unbeaten since the season resumed. Levante had drawn their first two games and then enjoyed a 3-1 win at Espanyol on Saturday.
There was a chance that Levante could get sucked into a relegation fight once the season restarted, but five points from nine have removed that threat. Currently eleventh, they can now target a top half finish.
Atletico have taken seven points from nine and have moved up to third. Champions League qualification looks assured and with two successive clean sheets, they can edge this one by winning to nil, at odds of 2.62.

Hosts in better form than visitors

Valladolid 3.50 v Getafe 2.66; The Draw 2.92

The pause in the season seems to have hit Getafe worse than most. Fifth when the season restarted, a run of three games without a win (D2 L1) has seen a gap of four points open up between Getafe and the Champions League spots.
Getafe are favoured to finally get a win against Valladolid at odds of 2.66, but the home side have arguably been in more convincing form. Over the last three set of fixtures, Valladolid have claimed four points to Getafe's two and came close to claiming a point away at Atletico Madrid on Saturday, before conceding an 81st minute goal.
It's rare that you see a draw as short as [2.92], but in this case it could still represent some value. This looks set to be tight and at the very least should provide a trading opportunity.
