 2020 NRL Round 15 – Preview, Expert Betting Tips & Odds

We have expert betting tips for all NRL Round 15 games this week, which kicks off with the Eels vs. Storm blockbuster on Thursday night.

The big games come thick and fast in Round 15, which starts with three of the top four teams do battle on Thursday and Friday night.

We look at the form of every NRL team and find the best value bets.

Thursday 20/8/20

7:50pm Parramatta Eels vs. Melbourne Storm @ Bankwest Stadium

The Melbourne Storm showed why they are still the team to beat in 2020 after beating up the Sydney Roosters last Thursday.

It was a comprehensive display when winning 24-6 and they did it without Cameron Smith, who is expected to return this week.

The Parramatta Eels suffered a rare defeat to the St George Dragons and now they must bounce back against a much harder side.

Bookmakers have the Storm as slight favourites and there is value with the head-to-head odds.

Betting tip: Storm to win @ $1.85

Friday 21/8/20

6:00pm Penrith Panthers vs. Cronulla Sharks @ Panthers Stadium

The Panthers have been steamrolling the opposition this season but they did look a little vulnerable against the Warriors

Despite leading 16-0 and looking likely to run away with it, the Panthers only scraped in by six points. However, they did enough to win and it continued their winning streak, which sees them at the top of the table.

The Sharks came through a tricky game against the Titans. The scores were locked up at 12-12 before Kevin Proctor got sent off. That changed the game and the Sharks ran away with it.

Penrith is expected to win this game and we wouldn’t bet against them.

7:55pm Brisbane Broncos vs. St George Dragons @ Suncorp Stadium

We fancied the Broncos to cover the spread last week and that looked likely for awhile, but they gave up in the second half.

Much like the Broncos season so far, they are giving up far too easily and punters are having a tough time backing them with any confidence.

St George scored an upset win over the Eels last week and even though this will be the first game for their new coach, that can spur teams on.

They will be out to impressive their new coach and they face a team that is already in off-season mode.

Betting tip: Dragons –6.5 @ $1.90

Saturday 22/8/20

3:00pm Gold Coast Titans vs. Canberra Raiders @ Cbus Super Stadium

The season went from bad to worse for the Titans, who will likely be without captain Kevin Proctor, who got sighted for biting Kiwi teammate Shaun Johnson.

Gold Coast was playing well against the Sharks before the incident but the Raiders could be in for a field day on Saturday afternoon.

Canberra were too strong for the Broncos last week, winning 36-8 and running away with the game in the second half.

This season has been mixed for the Raiders but they should post consecutive wins.

Betting tip: Raiders –10.5 @ $1.90

5:30pm Wests Tigers vs. Sydney Roosters @ Leichhardt Oval

The Roosters injury toll continues to grow and it will be a big concern as the playoffs get closer.

After losing heavily to the Storm last Thursday night, the Roosters are scrambling on to their top four position. That could come under threat if they lose to the Wests Tigers on Saturday.

The Tigers escaped with a one-point win over the Bulldogs on Sunday and although they were bad at times, their attack looked good.

They are a side that could measure up to an injured Roosters side and we’ll take the eight points on offer.

7:35pm South Sydney Rabbitohs vs. Manly Sea Eagles @ ANZ Stadium

The South Sydney Rabbitohs narrowly escaped with a win over the Cowboys last week and it could be another close game here.

Manly were beaten by the Knights last week but they battled well to lose by only two points. It should give them confidence heading into this game and punters are getting good odds.

The Sea Eagles are $3.10 to win but the value is with the points spread markets. It should be a closely-fought game and getting 7.5 points is ideal for Manly supporters.

Sunday 23/8/20

2:00pm Canterbury Bulldogs vs. New Zealand Warriors @ ANZ Stadium

The New Zealand Warriors have battled well this season, given what has happened off the field.

They were beaten by the Panthers last week but after being 16-0 down, they fought their way back to a 18-12 loss.

It followed consecutive wins from the Warriors and the Canterbury Bulldogs are the worst team in the NRL.

Canterbury battled well last week but it was another loss and injuries could see them lose another game to the Warriors.

Betting tip: Warriors to win @ $1.53

4:05pm Newcastle Knights vs. North Queensland Cowboys @ McDonald Jones Stadium

The Knights were forced to come from behind against the Manly Sea Eagles and they successfully did so in the final stages.

A late try secured the game for the Knights, who are battling this season but still find themselves in sixth on the NRL ladder.

The Cowboys are languishing in 14th position and despite playing better last week, they still suffered another loss.

Newcastle has more offensive power and they should score a comfortable win to close out Round 15.
