2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa Round 4 – Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds

We have expert betting tips for Super Rugby Aotearoa Round 4, which kicks off on Saturday night.

On the card this week is Hurricanes vs Chiefs on Saturday night, followed by Blues vs Crusaders on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues vs Crusaders is set to be the game of the season so far, so all eyes will be on the game at Eden Park.

Saturday 20/3/21

5:05pm Hurricanes vs Chiefs @ Sky Stadium

The Hurricanes enjoyed a week off after losing to the Crusaders in Round 2. It was a much-needed break for a team that had picked up some niggling injuries.

They are a team that is capable of making the final this year, but discipline is needed. The Canes continue to give away penalties and find themselves in trouble with the refs.

Competition in Super Rugby Aotearoa is so good that losing a man to the bin can cost you the game. The Hurricanes have found out the hard way, so they’ll need to start playing better.

The Chiefs started their season in Round 2 with a home loss to the Highlanders. The 39-23 performance wasn’t an ideal way to get things going and it didn’t get any better last week.

They lost 39-17 to the Crusaders and never looked likely at any stage. It was a disappointing effort from a team packed with All Blacks, including captain Sam Cane.

It’s tough to know what either team will do from week-to-week. Both the Hurricanes and Chiefs are enigmatic teams, but with the more talented players, we’re going with the Chiefs.

Sunday 21/3/21

1:35pm Blues vs Crusaders @ Eden Park

There is nothing better in Super Rugby in New Zealand than Blues vs Crusaders. It always brings the fireworks and the Blues believe they have bridged the gap.

After beating the Hurricanes 31-16 and Highlanders 39-17, the Blues have every reason to be confident ahead of Sunday’s game. However, facing the red-hot Crusaders is another rise in quality.

The Crusaders haven’t been tested so far against the Hurricanes and Chiefs, but they were tested against the Highlanders in Round 1. They led 14-0 before letting the Highlanders get back into the game at 14-13.

The class of the Crusaders was quick to show up and the game was put to bed with two late tries. However, it showed that a good team can test the Crusaders and the Blues are exactly that.

In front of a packed stadium at Eden Park, the Blues will have plenty of support. They are the current outsiders to win this game, which is fair given the history between the two sides.

We’re going with the Blues to cause an upset at value odds. The $2.30 is too good to pass up and they are good enough to give the Crusaders a big fright this season.

Betting tip: Blues to win @ $2.30
