Chelsea v Manchester City: Back Guardiola's Blues with Bet Builder

Chelsea and Manchester City meet in the biggest Premier League fixture of the season so far. Max Liu has picked a Bet Builder wager for the Stamford Bride showdown...

Like a lot of great teams, Manchester City are often at their most dangerous following a disappointing result. Pep Guardiola revels in getting his players to produce a devastating backlash display to swat aside criticism and get his team back on track.

Last weekend's 0-0 draw with Southampton prompted more recriminations about City's failure to sign a striker in the summer. It was the second time this season that City have dropped points and drawn a blank. They would love to come roaring back this weekend but, if they're to do so, it will have to be against a team that beat them three times last season. Interestingly, however, Guardiola has never lost to a team in four consecutive matches.

Defences likely to be on top at the Bridge

Chelsea's 1-0 win over City in the Champions League final was the quintessential Tuchel Chelsea display. Saturday's match at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League could follow a similar pattern, with Chelsea looking to go a goal up then squeeze the life out of the contest.

The only team to score against Chelsea this season was Liverpool at Anfield in their 1-1 draw. Thiago Silva has been in fine form at the back for the Blues recently and was dangerous at the other end against Spurs last weekend too.

Chelsea have kept 15 clean sheets in 24 Premier League games under Tuchel, more than any other side since the German took charge. City have conceded just once in the league this season too - on the first day at Spurs - so unders is the way to go.

Chelsea may be the best team in the Premier League. They are 3.15 to win it - marginally behind City 3.05 on the Exchange - and Tuchel could well bring the title back to Stamford Bridge for the first time in half-a-decade next May.

If Guardiola is going to get a reaction from his champions, though, a trip to the team that have designs on their title is the perfect opportunity. There is very little between these sides but City and their manager may just have a little bit more motivation this time. City have a good record under Guardiola at Stamford Bridge, winning three of their last six Premier League away games against Chelsea.

Some people point to last season's three wins for Tuchel over Guardiola and say the Catalan doesn't know how to outwit his German counterpart. They used to say that about Jurgen Klopp and Guardiola too, that the Liverpool boss had the City manager's number. After a series of defeats, though, Guardiola eventually turned the tables on Klopp. One day soon, he may do the same to Tuchel.
