Manchester United v West Ham: Expect repeat of Sunday's result

Manchester United meet West Ham again in the third round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday and Dan Fitch has his money on another win for the hosts, with the Londoners getting on the scoresheet.

Red Devils look for successive wins against Hammers

Manchester United beat West Ham over the weekend in the Premier League and will now look to repeat that result in the EFL Cup.

In a dramatic match on Sunday, Manchester United went behind in the first-half to a deflected shot from Said Benrahma, before Cristiano Ronaldo quickly equalised. It looked like Jesse Lingard's late strike had secured the points for the visitors, but David de Gea was required to save an injury time penalty from Mark Noble, to confirm the win.

After such a close game it will be interesting to see how strong Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will go with his selection. Looking at the teams he selected in this competition last season against Premier League opposition, he might not take too many chances, though we can perhaps expect players that started on the bench against West Ham, such as Donny Van de Beek, Jadon Sancho and Lingard, to be given a start.

Alex Telles, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani all look set to miss out with injury. Dean Henderson is back in training and could make a return in place of De Gea.

How strong will Moyes go?

Having came so close to getting a result against Manchester United, the Hammers have a chance to quickly exact some revenge.

David Moyes has received criticism for his decision to bring Noble on as a substitute, specifically to take that late penalty. Noble's miss was his first touch of the ball.

Moyes' decision making will surely come under scrutiny if he goes too weak with his team selection. Last season he decided to rotate heavily away at Everton in the EFL Cup and lost 4-1. Doing something similar at Old Trafford will effectively see West Ham surrender the game, considering that Manchester United have far more strength in depth.

Michail Antonio missed the match on Sunday through suspension, but will be available on Wednesday. With West Ham lacking a dedicated striker to replace Antonio when absent, his return could make a big difference, with Moyes now having the luxury of a full squad to choose from.

West Ham can score on the road

Manchester United are the 1.53 favourites, with the draw at 4.3 and West Ham at 6.8.

These odds seem about right.

With West Ham involved in the Europa League, you wonder how much Moyes will relish a League Cup run right now, as he looks to build upon last season's sixth placed finish in the Premier League.

If he picks a full-strength side then West Ham have a chance, but it seems likely that there will be some rotation.

A Manchester United win and both teams to score landed at the weekend and is 3.3 on this occasion. Both teams have scored in five of Manchester United's six games this season and is available at 1.91 as a standalone bet. With Solskjaer bound to make some changes in defence and the possibility of Antonio returning, West Ham seem set to find the net.

Antonio is a big price to score at 3.8. He's scored five goals in as many starts this season.
