Adelaide v Sydney FC – (Friday 7:40pm)
It was a long time coming but Adelaide finally got their first win of the season and they were able to leap frog both Perth and the Central Coast in the process and climb off the bottom of the ladder. Meanwhile Sydney FC returned to winning ways with a grinding 1-0 victory at home to Newcastle. It was their first goal in 3 games as their struggles in front of goal continue but defensively they now have 6 clean sheets this season – double the next best. The Unders has been easy money in Sydney FC games and has saluted in 7 of their last . How it is again the underdog play is beyond all belief according to the Wolf. Sydney FC simply do not lose away from home and remain undefeated in their last 17 regular season away matches. Adelaide though do have a good record against the Sky Blues and have lost just one of the last 9 meetings between the sides. This one has draw written all over it!
Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals ($1.95)
Value Bet: Draw ($3.50)
Brisbane v Wellington – (Saturday 5:15pm)
Wellington put on one of the performances of the year last week when they completely dominated the competition favourites Melbourne Victory. It was an absolute master class and the key to victory was the ability of Bonevacia to take control of the game in the centre of the park. His ball winning and distribution allowed Wellington to shut down Melbourne and then create on the counter. The Victory had no choice but to go wide and on this occasion inaccurate crosses were easily dealt with. Now they fave a Brisbane side who were unlucky not to take a point away from their travel to Pirtek stadium after setting the tempo against the Wanderers for most of the match. Both sides like to get forward in numbers and as we have seen in previous encounters there will certainly be a focus on scoring. The last 7 encounters have all produced at least 3 goals and the Wolf says that streak will extend to 8.
Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals ($1.82)
Value Bet: Correct Score 2-2 ($15.00)
Western Sydney v Melbourne Victory – (Saturday 7:30pm)
The fans look set to make their return to Pirtek this week and what a treat they will get with the top of the table clash! The boycott comes to an end following an in-principle agreement between the clubs and the FFA. It means that Pirtek Stadium will be packed to the rafters for this one and the Wanderers will need the 12th man in the grandstand. The Victory have won the past 4 encounters scoring 12 goals along the way. If the Wanderers are to turn that around this week shapes as the perfect opportunity – they have won 6 consecutive matches, maintained 3 clean sheets along the way and climbed to the top of the ladder. The fans will be in full voice but Tony Popovic will know that to beat the Victory his side will need to be at their best. Nichols and Casterlen were fantastic last week and winning the all important midfield battle will again be the key. The Wanderers will also be careful not to give away set pieces in dangerous areas as the Roar’s Corona produces some of the best deliveries of anyone in the league. This is a huge test for the Wanderers and a big statement game for the Victory coming off a loss. It will go right down to the wire.
Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals ($1.75)
Value Bet: 1st Half – Over 1.5 goals ($2.60)
Perth v Central Coast – (Saturday 9:40pm)
What can we say about these two sides. Perth find themselves in a bottom of the table clash for the second week in a row and glory is nothing but a distant spec at the moment. The FFA Cup Final seems a distant memory with Perth losing 4 of their last 5 in the league and scoring just a single goal across those 5 matches. They have the worst attack in the league (just 7 goals) and this week take on the worst defence. The Mariners have conceded  21 goals already this season and the flood gates really opened last week when Melbourne City put 5 past them. Perth have won 4 of the last 5 meetings in the West and are nothing short of desperate for a win. The Glory has conceded multiple goals in just 1 of their last 5 matches and a similar performance defensively should give them every chance at a second win for the season.
Best Bet: Both Teams To Score – YES ($1.57)
Value Bet: Perth WIN ($2.10)
Newcastle v Melbourne City – (Sunday 5:00pm)
Melbourne City was the first club to score 5 goals in consecutive matches and their ability to score at will has the entire league looking over their shoulders. Their 23 goals for the season is impressive but what is even more amazing is the fact that the second best attack has scored just 14! The numbers are not lining up though as they sit just 5th on the ladder but that is sure to change in the coming weeks. Newcastle simply do not have the fire power to go with City. City have the form player of the A-League in Aaron Mooy not to mention the leagues top scorer in Bruno Fornaroli. They are firing on all cylinders at the moment and the Wolf says they could make it 3 weeks in a row with 5 goals.
Best Bet: Melbourne City WIN ($1.80)
Value Bet: Team Totals – Melbourne City Over 2.5 goals ($3.30)
