At first glance many would see Kohlschreiber as a tricky opponent for Roger but they couldn’t be more wrong! Federer is a perfect 12-0 against the German with his latest win coming via straight sets at last years US Open. To challenge Roger you need one of two things – weight of shot or supreme athleticism and Kohlschreiber doesn’t have either. This will be another routine win for Roger and put him in a position to reclaim top spot in the rankings in his following match.

Andrey Rublev v Damir DzumhurThere is no doubt that Rublev will be making noise in 2018 but we may not have to wait long at all. Despite being just 20 years of age he has already registered 3 career wins over Dzumhur. We have learnt quickly that playing passive against Rublev is asking for trouble. In their previous meetings Rublev has been allowed to be the aggressor and this one will be no different. Dzumhur tends to play behind the baseline and that spells trouble against a young gun that likes to play on the front foot from the word go. One way traffic!
