2020 NRL Finals Week 2 – Tips, Predictions & Odds

The Sydney Roosters are trying to defend their title and they’ll have to beat last year’s finalists to do so.

Canberra got unlucky in the 2019 Grand Final and they will be hellbent on getting their revenge over the Roosters. However, it won’t be easy and they are the underdogs in Friday’s game.

The Roosters looked good early on against the Penrith Panthers before giving up a flurry of points. Despite being behind in the second half, the Roosters fought their way back and pushed the Panthers to their limits.

They could have easily folded up and saved themselves for this game, but instead the Roosters fought back and only lost by a single point in the dying stages of the game.

The 29-28 loss means they have to play this week, but confidence should be high knowing they didn’t play well and still pushed the best team in the league close.

For the Canberra Raiders, it was a similar story but with a different outcome. They faced the Sharks and faced a 14-6 deficit late in the second half, but a Williams intercept changed the course of the game.

Cronulla folded as the Raiders piled on the points for a 12-point win. It wasn’t an entirely impressive game from the Raiders, but they can score at will on their day.

Both sides are capable of putting up big totals, which should make for an exciting game. Bookmakers have the Roosters as $1.50 favourites, which is fair given their ability.

The line is set at 5.5 but we suggest taking the head-to-head odds for the Roosters for a safer play.

7:50pm Parramatta Eels vs. South Sydney Rabbitohs @ Bankwest Stadium

The Parramatta Eels might have finished third during the regular season, but bookmakers have them as the underdogs for this game.

The reasoning is not only because they lost to the Melbourne Storm last week, but they also lost inspirational winger Mika Sivo and Blake Ferguson to injury.

It’s not going to help their chances against a rampaging South Sydney Rabbitohs outfit, which tore through the Newcastle Knights on Sunday.

Despite being 14-0 down in the early stages of the game, the Rabbitohs stormed back to take a 20-14 halftime lead. They were able to build on that lead and put away a disappointing Newcastle side.

It will be harder this week, but momentum is key and South Sydney have the momentum. They are playing carefree league and we think they will be too good for the Eels.

Bookmakers have the Rabbitohs as $1.50 favourites with a 5.5 line, which is identical to the Roosters vs. Raiders market.

We are going with the Rabbitohs to cover the spread in what could be a one-sided game.
