2021 Super Rugby AU Round 3 – Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds

Friday 27/2/21

7:45pm Waratahs vs. Force @ Bankwest Stadium

The Waratahs were on the wrong end of a smashing at the hands of the Brumbies last week, so it will take a big effort to turn that around.

It was a 61-10 disgrace and one of the worst Waratahs losses in history. Despite the 51-point loss, bookmakers have kept the Waratahs safe against the Force on Friday.

The Force didn’t have a good 2020 season and this season didn’t start any better. They suffered a 27-11 loss to the Brumbies, but it wasn’t the worst effort in the world.

Improvement is likely from this team, which attracted some better players this season. There is a better core group of players this season and we could see the Force score numerous wins throughout the year.

We’re not sure what to make of the Waratahs. They are a youthful side but there is no sense of direction and coming off a 51-point loss isn’t easy.

The Waratahs also lost in Round 1 to the Reds by 41-7. Two poor efforts aren’t a good form guide for this contest and this is the best chance for the Force to get a win.

Punters will take to take $1.73 for the Force, which is rare territory. However, backing the Waratahs is seemingly impossible after two rounds.

Betting tip: Western Force to win @ $1.73

7:45pm Brumbies vs. Rebels @ GIO Stadium

The Brumbies have made an excellent start to their title defense after beating the Force in Round 1 and the Waratahs in Round 2.

It was an incredible effort last week to beat the Waratahs 61-10 and that will give them a wealth of confidence heading into this game.

It was a try-fest and having an ability to cross the line with ease is an asset not all Australian sides have. The Brumbies break that mould and that’s why they are having so much success.

The Rebels kicked off their campaign in Round 2 with a heartbreaking 23-21 loss to the Reds. Despite leading for most of the game, the Reds took the lead with only three minutes remaining.

Melbourne had a chance to win after the final siren sounded, but Matt Toomua missed a penalty kick wide left. It was a devasting loss for the Rebels after playing so well throughout the game.

A loss like that has a chance to either galvanise or hurt this team, but getting a win in the column won’t be easy against the Brumbies.

Bookmakers are the $1.19 favourites with bookmakers and the Rebels are getting 13.5 points. That is a big start to overcome and the Rebels are good enough to keep in close contact with the favourites.

Betting tip: Rebels +13.5 @ $1.90
