Gefle v Hammarby
Monday July 06, 18:05
The Cristal tasted lovely for Tobias in Peru last night, as Sporting lost 3-1 at home to Alianza Lima to land the overs bet. After an extended South American odyssey, he deserves his week off.
I've finally cut off the Glastonbury 2015 wristband, and cast the likes of Pharrell, Mark Ronson and Lionel Richie into the musical memory banks. It's time to switch back from drum kits to markets (oh yeah, back with a bang).
We'll start in Sweden, and the glamour of the Allsvenskan. Gefle have made a selection-box sort of start to the campaign, with five wins, two draws and six defeats. Roger Sandberg's boys are ninth in the 16-team top flight.
Hammarby are two places and four points worse off than this evening's opponents, but frankly they are just glad to be back in the elite division, after spending six years in the Superettan. If they are to avoid an instant return to the doldrums, coach Nanne Bergstrand must find a way to improve their away form. Hammarby have failed to win any of their seven away games, scoring a paltry six goals and leaking 12.
Gefle are coming off the back of a 5-1 drubbing at title contenders Elfsborg, but they have won three of their last six league games, and their home form is respectable. GIF have lost just one of their six matches at the Gavlevallen, winning three. Indeed, if you stretch back into last season, Gefle have lost just four of their last 16 games in front of their own fans.
You could back Gefle outright at a tempting price of 2.70, but given that Gefle can be a touch inconsistent, I'd like to cover the draw by backing the hosts Draw No Bet at 1.95. Gefle are the established top-flight side, and should have too much for Hammarby team that has already lost four times on the road this term.
