Sevilla defeated rivals Real Betis for the third time this season with a 2-0 win at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
Second-half goals from Kevin Gameiro and substitute Andujar Coke gave Unai Emery's team a first La Liga victory in six outings.
Sevilla, who won both legs of the Copa Del Rey tie between the two sides earlier this campaign and have not lost in the derby in the league since May 2012, dominated for large periods but were wasteful in front of goal during a first half which was high on passion but low on quality.
Betis began brightly and Charly Musonda wanted a penalty after 13 minutes after going to ground under a challenge from Filho Mariano but he was shown a yellow card for diving. Television replays showed it was the correct decision.
