Vargas looking to make a name for himself

Professional fight number 37 for former world champion Amir Khan and the latest leg of a journey the 31-year-old hopes will take him back to the top of the sport. On Saturday evening at the Arena Birmingham the Bolton puncher will take on Columbian Samuel Vargas over 12 rounds.
The opponent isn't a man well known amongst casual followers of the game in this country, but he'll know the benefits that come from beating Khan, taking heart from the way Breidis Prescott launched his career with that most famous of upsets.
Will Vargas inflict a fifth defeat on his opponent and put an end to any slim hopes he has of again wearing a world title strap? According to the betting that's highly unlikely with Khan priced like he can't lose. Sound familiar?

Khan nailed on for the win

King Khan is not without his critics in the game, but punters see no value in opposing him this weekend and there's currently no better than the 1.07 you'll find on the Exchange about a 33rd win in 37 for the Brit.
That'll push backers into the specials markets but there's plenty to sink your teeth into if looking to take a bit more of a risk for higher rewards.
Amir returned from a prolonged absence from the ring to stop Canadian Phil Lo Grecoinside a round last time and he looked in no mood to hang around. If he's serious about pushing for an all-British super fight with long-term rival Kell Brook he must sparkle again in front of a bumper audience.
Another KO/TKO result is 1/3 jolly in the method of victory chart and that's where you'll find the points cheer at 3/1.

Underdog unbeaten in five

Samuel Vargas has nothing to lose coming to England and everything to gain. The talented 29-year-old born in Bogota may carry a heavyweight price, but he deserves a bit more respect than that after winning 29 of his first 34, two of the spare ending in a draw.
The 5ft 9inch orthodox boxed out a majority decision share with Argentina's Mauro Godoylast time - not the most inspiring result - but many who watched the bout had Vargas the rightful winner.
The underdog makes his way from his Canadian base having avoided defeat in each of his last five, a run stretching back to late 2016 when losing in seven to Danny Garcia in Philadelphia. There's certainly no shame in that result.
Vargas to beat Khan is a whopping 16.50 on the Exchange, a KO/TKO result 14/1 through the Betfair Sportsbook. The points win is yours at 33/1 or you can sit on the fence and back the bout to travel the distance at 5/2 and that'll be paid out regardless of who gets the nod.
RECOMMENDED BETS Amir Khan rounds 1-6 @ 8/5
