Hertha to deepen Fortuna's gloom

Fortuna Dusseldorf v Hertha Berlin
Saturday 10 November, 14:30
Live on Betfair Live Video
Fortuna Dusseldorf coach Friedhelm Funkel knows just hard it is taking a team into the Bundesliga and adjusting to a higher level, because as a promotion specialist he's had to do it time and time again. This time around, he's finding it tough to get the best out of a group of players that won the Bundesliga 2 title, so much so that even senior figures at the club have suggested there isn't enough quality in the squad.
Fortuna have lost their last six Bundesliga matches, conceding 20 goals in the process. Summer signing Marvin Ducksch has done nothing to disabuse people of the notion that he is an excellent second-tier striker who doesn't have what it takes to perform in the top flight, and on-loan Watford forward Dodi Lukebakio is the only Fortuna player to have scored more than once in the league.
Hertha Berlin have slowed down after an extraordinary start to the season, but they have still pulled off some decent results of late. They held Borussia Dortmund to a 2-2 draw in their last Bundesliga away game, and they won at Darmstadt in the DFB Cup. Hertha have scored at least two goals in four of their last six away games in all competitions, and I think they have enough quality and firepower to beat a really limited Fortuna side.
I'll back the visitors to win at 2.20.

Wolfsburg to edge Lower Saxony derby

Hannover v Wolfsburg
Friday 09 November, 19:30
Live on BT Sport
Having barely escaped relegation in each of the last two seasons, Wolfsburg look a little more likely to have a serene campaign this time around. The Wolves are currently six points clear of the relegation zone, but are well aware they could be dragged back into trouble if they lose at Lower Saxony rivals Hannover on Friday night.
However, the signs point to a Wolfsburg success. Die Wolfe played well in a 1-0 defeat at home to league leaders Borussia Dortmund last weekend, and they had won the previous two matches, a 3-0 success at Fortuna Dusseldorf in the league and a 2-0 win at Hannover in the DFB Cup.
Hannover had a perfect pre-season, and spirits were high after hometown coach Andre Breitenreiter signed a new long-term deal on the eve of the season. Die Roten started the league campaign with creditable draws against Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund (they are the only Bundesliga team to have kept a clean sheet against BVB this term), but since then they have won just once in the league, and they are occupying the relegation playoff spot.
Hannover's cause won't be helped by the fact that their best striker, Niclas Fullkrug, is still out with a knee injury. At the other end, Hannover have leaked 22 goals in their last nine matches.
Wolfsburg are playing a lot better than Hannover, and recently won at the HDI Arena in the cup. I'll back them Draw No Bet at 1.86.

Improving Schalke to stop Frankfurt's winning streak

Eintracht Frankfurt v Schalke
Sunday 10 November, 17:00
Live on BT Sport
After a truly dreadful start to the season, Eintracht Frankfurt have turned things around incredibly quickly under new coach Adi Hutter. They have qualified for the last 32 of the Europa League with two games to spare (they have won all four group matches), and their swashbuckling attacking play has catapulted them into the race for the top six. The Eagles have won seven of their last eight matches in all competitions, and strikers Luka Jovic,Sebastien Haller and Ante Rebic have provided a consistent cutting edge.
As good as Frankfurt have been, I have a feeling they may be frustrated this weekend by a Schalke team that has started to look more like its gritty self in recent weeks. The Royal Blues picked up a huge win against Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday, and they have now lost just one of their last nine games in all competitions. I never thought I'd write this, but the return of Benjamin Stambouli has made a positive difference, and striker Mark Uth has boosted his confidence with goals against Galatasaray and Hannover.
I think Frankfurt are too short at 2.24, so I'll go for Draw and Away in the Double Chancemarket at 1.75.
