2020 AFL Round 9 – Preview, Expert Betting Tips & Odds
Wednesday 29/07/20

7:10pm Western Bulldogs vs. Richmond Tigers @ Metricon Stadium

The Bulldogs scraped home by 5 points against the Suns last week while the Tigers went down to the Giants in the 2019 Grand Final rematch.
Inaccuracy in front of goal probably cost Richmond the game and we’re expecting an improved performance at Metricon Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Bullgdogs are improving and shouldn’t be easy beats here, but Richmond are the better side and there is value in the $1.80 that bookmakers have put up.
Betting tip: Richmond to win @ $1.80
Tigers by 14

7:50pm Melbourne Demons vs. Port Adelaide Power @ Gabba

The Demons came close to beating the Lions last week while Port Adelaide couldn’t keep up with the fast-finishing Saints.
The Demons will be looking to back up that close loss with another solid effort but it may not be enough to come away with the 4 points against the ladder leaders.
We’re expecting a hard fought game of footy but Port should be back in the winners list and we’re liking the odds for them to win by the 1-39 margin.
Betting tip: Port Adelaide 1-39 @ $1.91
Power by 18
Friday 31/07/20

5:40pm Carlton Blues vs. Hawthorn Hawks @ Optus Stadium

The Blues had a 7 point win over the struggling Roos last week while the Hawks lost a narrow match to the Swans.
This should be a close game of footy with the young Blues side fighting hard each week, however we like the odds for Hawthorn to snap their 4 game losing streak at $2.60 and like them even better at the +12.5 line.
We’re expecting this to be a close one and giving the Hawks a 12.5 point start seems too good to be true!
Betting tip: Hawthorn +12.5 @ $1.90
Hawks by 2

8:10pm Essendon Bombers vs. Brisbane Lions @ Metricon Stadium

The Bombers were lucky to come away with the 4 points against a deplorable Crows side while the Lions held on for a narrow win over the Demons.
Dylan Shiel will boost the Bomber midfield this week, however, it’s forward firepower that they seem to be lacking and they have a few key injuries at the moment.
Brisbane may also be without some key players in Rich and Burchell but we’re expecting Brisbane to have a comfortable 20-30 point win and we’ll take them to win by the 1-39 margin at $1.83.
Betting tip: Brisbane 1-39 @ $1.83
Lions by 25

2:35pm North Melbourne Kangaroos vs. Adelaide Crows @ Metricon Stadium

North Melbourne vs. Adelaide Crows – this could be the worst game of football we see for the 2020 season! Adelaide are yet to win a game and the Roos are seriously out of form.
However, this game isn’t really about picking a winner – it’s about how much will the Roos win by?
If North Melbourne can find any sort of form they will make short work of the Crows, and we’ll back them to at least find enough to cover the fairly short -10.5 line.
Betting tip: North Melbourne -10.5 @ $1.90
Kangaroos by 22

5:20pm St Kilda Saints vs. Sydney Swans @ Gabba

The Saints were very impressive in their win over the ladder-leading Power last week while the Swans won a tight game over the Hawks.
If both teams maintain their form coming into this game then the Saints should have a comfortable win and continue their charge up the ladder.
The Saints -15.5 looks like one of the best bets of the round.
Betting tip: St Kilda -15.5 @ $1.90
Saints by 28

8:10pm West Coast Eagles vs. Geelong Cats @ Optus Stadium

West Coast completely outclassed the Magpies last week and Geelong had a good win over Fremantle in horrendous conditions.
West Coast have looked a different side playing back at home and while we expect this game to be closer than last week, they should make it 5 wins in a row.
We’ll give Geelong the respect they deserve and take West Coast at the 1-39 margin.
Betting tip: West Coast 1-39 @ $1.80

3:35pm Gold Coast Suns vs. GWS Giants @ Metricon Stadium

The Suns came desperately close against the Dogs last week while the Giants won the 2020 Grand Final rematch over the Tigers.
The young Suns team are exciting to watch and look like they have a bright future, however, the Giants will be too good here.
We think the Giants will have a comfortable win but you can be sure the Suns will fight to the very end, so we’re taking the Giants at the 1-39 margin.
Betting tip: GWS 1-39 @ $1.83
Giants by 27

6:10pm Fremantle Dockers vs. Collingwood Magpies @ Optus Stadium

Fremantle only scored 16 points for the entire match last week while the Magpies were no match for the Eagles.
The Magpies could be without Pendlebury for 4 weeks due to a quad strain while Nat Fyfe is a chance to return.
Collingwood should win this one but not at a blowout margin. We like the $1.72 odds for the Pies to win 1-39.
Betting tip: Collingwood 1-39 @ $1.72
Magpies by 28
