Premier League: All the permutations before the final round

The race to finish top four is as tight as it's ever been while at the bottom three clubs are trying to avoid relegation. Max Liu reports on the betting ahead of the final round...

Manchester United 1.28 and Chelsea 1.16 are being backed on the Exchange to secure top four finishes on the final day of the Premier League season this Sunday.

Odds of 2.60 indicate that bettors expect Leicester to miss out on Champions League qualification. But with United in third and Chelsea in fourth separated only by goal difference, and fifth-place Leicester just one point behind, there could be further twists.

Leicester and United set for top four decider

The Foxes host the Red Devils on Sunday in a winner takes all showdown, although the draw would suit United. The question is - can United play for a draw? They've been defending sloppily recently and looked tired in their draw against West Ham last night. But Leicester looked worn out against Spurs on Sunday.

Foxes striker Jamie Vardy, incidentally, is 1.23 to win the Golden Boot.

Chelsea, meanwhile, welcome Wolves to Stamford Bridge. Nuno Espirito Santo's men are trying to secure sixth-place, with Spurs breathing down their necks, so there is plenty to play for on what could be a dramatic final day of the season. The market makes Jose Mourinho's men 1.55 favourites to steal it as they go to Crystal Palace.

Watford odds-on for relegation

Watford 1.33 went odds-on for relegation after they dropped into the bottom three on goal difference this week. The Hornets were thumped 4-0 by Man City hours before relegation rivals Aston Villa 3.15 earned a priceless win over Arsenal.

Villa and Watford are separated by a single goal. The managerless Hornets go to Arsenal on Sunday while Villa play away at West Ham who are already safe but arguably playing their best football of the season.

The other club in the mix is Bournemouth 1.06, although in 19th-place, and three points adrift of their rivals you can understand why they're so short for the drop. They do have the same goal difference as Watford, though, and have been improving in recent matches.

Bournemouth were unlucky against Man City and Southampton. If the Cherries luck changes when they go to unpredictable Everton on Sunday, and both of the teams around them take a shellacking, it would surely rank as one of the sweetest survival stories ever.
