5:05pm Hurricanes vs. Chiefs

The Hurricanes enjoyed a week off last week and they should come into this game fresh. They are making a run for the title after looking beaten earlier this season and it’s exciting rugby.

Only a few weeks ago, the Hurricanes’ chances of winning the title looked shot. However, wins over the Blues and Crusaders have shot them up the ladder.

They now take on the winless Chiefs, which had their chance to beat the Blues last week but couldn’t capitalise in the dying stages.

It has been a mightily disappointing season for the Chiefs, given how much All Black talent they have. However, they are still capable of producing an upset over the Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes enjoy playing on home soil this week and with a bumper crowd expected in the windy city, they should be too good.

Bookmakers have the Hurricanes as $1.36 favourites in the head-to-head market and 6.5-point favourites. We are expecting them to cover the spread and produce another top effort over the Chiefs.

7:15pm Waratahs vs. Reds

It was heartbreak for the Reds last week and how they rebound will be interesting. After going down 14-0 to the Brumbies, they fought back to lead 20-14 in the later stages of the game.

However, they conceded a late try to the Brumbies, which went unconverted. Leading by only one point with no time on the clock, the Brumbies got the ball back and subsequently kicked a game-winning penalty.

The Reds did more than enough to win that game, so losing it could shatter their confidence. However, we are expecting them to front up against the Waratahs.

The Waratahs are coming off a bye week and they should be well-rested. However, their form in 2020 has been less-than-desirable and they could struggle again.

Not much is going right for the Waratahs, who have suffered from a lack of cohesion. A big turnaround will be needed to score an upset over the Reds.

Bookmakers have the Reds as firm favourites and it’s tough to disagree.

The Crusaders are the biggest favourites of the week to beat the Highlanders and that won’t surprise any punters.

They are the best team in the New Zealand Super Rugby competition and they have already beaten the Highlanders by a big margin this season. The last time they played, the Highlanders led at halftime but that lead quickly turned into a double-figure deficit.

Form from the Highlanders hasn’t improved much since that game and the only question punters should have is whether they can cover the spread of 16.5 points.

The Highlanders are good enough to cover such a big spread but if they start poorly, catching up against this Crusaders side is nearly impossible.

We are going with the Highlanders with the points and hoping they can stick with the premiership leaders.
