For coach Paul Okon it was the culmination of hard work and there can be no denying that they were the better side. De Silva continue to put on masterful displays while Pain, Hoole and Asdrubal look effective on the counter. they will be hurt by the fact that skipper Baro will be missing through suspension. The Wolf has not been shy to back against Adelaide in recent weeks but they will get some bodies back on deck. Matmour and Diawara may return to the starting XI after coming off the bench while Absalonsen is still a couple of weeks away. Nevertheless, The Wolf says the theme in this one will be goals. Both teams have found the back of the net in the last 8 encounters with the Over 8-0 along the way. The numbers don’t lie – goals!

Brisbane v Melbourne City – (Fri 7:50pm)
The Roar salvaged a point last week but their ability to get a result had more to do with the Victory’s absentee list than their own qualities. Now they must try to break down the A-League’s best defence. The Wolf simply cannot see it happening. Brisbane have failed to score more than once in 5 of their 6 games this season and outside of the 3 goals against the Phoenix have just 3 goals for the season. They are alarming numbers and with City at full strength across the back The Wolf is very happy to lay the hosts. The Under is 6-3 in the last 9 meetings and neither side has shown the ability to create chances with ease. McCromack has scored the last 4 Melbourne City goals but the last 3 have come from set pieces so don’t expect fireworks. City to grind their way to a win on the back of a stellar defensive display.

Western Sydney v Wellington – (Sat 5:35pm)You wouldn’t believe it but the Wanderers took a lead into half time for the 4th time in their last 5 games yet failed to collect all 3 points. It is becoming a far too familiar theme and the Wanderers are becoming the draw specialists. The Phoenix are coming off their first win of the season after putting 5 past the Glory but The Wolf says to sweep last weeks result under the carpet. They have lost their last 4 away league matches and conceded 3 or more goals in 3 of them. Furthermore they have conceded multiple goals in 10 of their last 13 away fixtures and have gone down to the Wanderers in 5 of the last 7 meetings. They may be short in the market but The Wolf says the Wanderers will be winning.

Sydney FC v Newcastle – (Sat 7:50pm)
The Sky Blues lost their first A-League fixture in 15 matches last week and this week their 19 games unbeaten run at home goes on the line. They will take on the team holding down top spot for the second time in three weeks. A fortnight ago they beat Melbourne City by a solitary goal and this week they will take on the high flying Jets. Ernie Merrick has done some job since going to Newcastle. The Jets are undefeated but it’s the style of football they are playing which is turning heads. They lead the league with 15 goals and are playing to their strengths – the front quartet. Sydney FC are undefeated in their last 13 against the Jets with 11 wins in that stretch! The numbers don’t look good for the Jets. They have failed to score in 11 of the last 12 meetings including the last 6. It’s cause for concern but The Wolf says this is a very different Jets side. They are however yet to meet the top two sides who are ironically also the two best defensive sides. With the Under going 11-1 in the last 12 meetings and Graham Arnold renowned for setting up compact in big matches The Wolf says there will be nothing between them. After conceding twice last week Sydney will be completely focused defensively.

Perth v Melbourne Victory – (Sun 7:00pm)The longest domestic trip in world football was not a pleasant one for the Glory but they return home where they have won their last 4 and 8 of their last 10. The Victory conceded late and we won’t know the playing status of Milligan, Troisi and Barbarouses up until the side is finalised an hour before kick off. We saw them back up from international duty last time but with this game in Perth it may be a different story. The Glory have won the last 3 meetings at nib Stadium and the theme in this series, as in many involving the Glory, is goals! Both teams have found the back of the net in 10 of the last 11 meetings with the Over going 4-1 in the last 5 matches in the west. Until the Victory get all of their bodies back on deck The Wolf is more than happy to back against them.
