Sydney Roosters v Gold Coast Titans
Saturday, May 26, 3:00pm
Central Coast Stadium, Gosford

The Roosters are looking anything but the preseason title favourites they were but get a big opportunity to gain a bit of momentum against a Titans team that has struggled defensively all season.
Recent Form
The Sydney Roosters are seventh on the ladder with a 6-5 record. They rank eighth in scoring and have fallen to fourth defensively after a 28-22 road loss to Brisbane. The Roosters have scored 22-plus in three straight. Gold Coast ended a five-game losing streak with a 33-26 home win against Newcastle. The Titans have the worst defence in the NRL and they have conceded 26 or more in five of their last six.
Key MatchupLatrell Mitchell v Brenko Lee. Mitchell is arguably the most dangerous attacking centre in the game at moment and squares up against a player who is renowned as a defensive liability in Lee. Lee needs to smother Mitchell and then take advantage of Mitchell’s own poor defence if the Titans are to compete.

Stats That Matter
– Sydney Roosters are 5-6 ATS with a 7-4 under record while Gold Coast are 6-5 ATS with a 7-4 over number.

– Three of the last four matches have failed to break 36 points.
– The Titans sit 13th on the ladder with a 4-7 game.
– The over is 5-1 since 2015 in games at Gosford. The Roosters are 1-7 ATS since 2008 at Gosford.
– The Roosters are 24-13 under when favoured by more than a converted try while they have failed to cover their last five when favoured by double digits.
– The Roosters are 14-4 ATS with a 13-5 under record after conceding 28 or more.
– The Roosters are 9-19 ATS in day matches over the last four seasons.
– The over is 24-15 in Titans day games.
– The Titans have covered just 2 of last 8 interstate games while over is 17-8 in interstate games when they are an underdog of more than a converted try.
– Interstate teams coming off 30 or more points are 51-37 ATS since 2015 while outsiders are 33-18 ATS.
Final Thoughts
The Titans have historically played the Roosters fairly close and with the Roosters hardly inspiring lately, happy to take the big start. The Roosters have a poor record at Gosford, struggle in da games and have failed in their last five as a double digit favourite. The Titans don’t have a lot of angles pushing them but interstate outsiders coming off a showing of 30 or more points have a great cover record.
