The Daily Acca: Liverpool to make a statement
Saturday's edition of the Daily Acca is a 4/1 treble that begins with the traditional season curtain-raiser at Wembley. Here are Paul Robinson's selections:
League to trump the FA Cup
Bet 1: Back Liverpool 4/6 - KO 16:30 BST
It feels that the Community Shield is upon us, but that's the situation we find ourselves in, and I can't see anything other than a Liverpool victory.
Jurgen Klopp's side have had Arsenal's measure in recent years, and while the Gunners did win the last meeting in July, it was a game that Liverpool deserved something from.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is a doubt through injury, but Virgil van Dijk is available despite suffering a head injury in Tuesday's friendly against Salzburg.
William Saliba is expected to make his debut for Arsenal, but if both teams play to their level, there will only be one winner.
Nice to avoid defeat
Bet 2: Back Nice & Draw @ 4/6 - KO 20:00 BST
Strasbourg began their season with a 3-1 defeat Lorient last weekend, and while they are much better at home than they are away, I do believe that Nice are more than capable of avoiding defeat.
The visitors beat Lens 2-1 in their season bow, and they finished the previous campaign by going five undefeated on their travels - four draws and a win.
The hosts won just three of their final six on their own patch last term, and seven of 13 overall.
Leaders to be thwarted in Brazil
Bet 3: Back Botafogo & Draw @ 4/5 - KO 21:00 BST
Internacional are top of the Brazilian Serie A, but they have played a game more than some of their rivals, and had the benefit of having three of their five at home.
In their two away matches, they edged out the team who are currently bottom of the league by a 0-1 scoreline, and they followed that with a 2-1 loss at Fluminense.
Despite finishing in seventh place last season, they lost 11 of their 19 on the road - winning just five - while Botafogo won nine of their 19 on this ground.
It is also worth noting that the selection are unbeaten in four outings this year - three draws and one win.
