Premier League : Top 4 race hots up as City sail into the distance

It's seemingly all about who can finish in the top four in the Premier League with Man City continuing to dominate proceedings, while at the other end of the table the fight to avoid relegation looks an intriguing battle. Mike Norman has the latest odds...

With Manchester City trading at 1.05 to win the Premier League title following their 4-1 win over Tottenham, attention now turns to which other three clubs will join them in the top four, and which teams are in danger of being relegated.

City passed their latest test in emphatic fashion, making it 16 league wins in succession and temporarily moving 14 points clear at the top of the table. Pep Guardiola's men are available to back at 9/2 on the Sportsbook to go the full season unbeaten.

Narrow wins for chasing pack

Although catching Man City now looks beyond them, all three of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United recorded narrow wins with their main target now undoubedly to claim a Top 4 Finish.

Arsenal got the better of Newcastle 1-0 thanks to a stunning Mesut Ozil volley, and that was the same scoreline at Stamford Bridge as Marcos Alonso's free-kick gave Chelsea the win over Southampton.

On Sunday Man United made hard work of beating West Brom 2-1 at the Hawthorns despite leading 2-0 at the interval thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard. Gareth Barry reduced the arrears midway through the second half but United held on to reduce the gap at the top of the table back to 11 points.

United are three points ahead of Chelsea in the table and can be backed at 1.11 to finish in the top four; the Blue themselves have a four-point lead over Liverpool and currently trade at 1.21. The Reds - who comprehensively beat Bournemouth 4-0 in Sunday's late game - are 1.72 to record a Top 4 Finish, while North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham can be backed at 2.70 and 2.76 respectively.

Eagles flying high up the table

At the other end of the table Crystal Palace moved out of the relegation zone for the first time this season thanks to an impressive 3-0 win at in-form Leicester.

Such is the congested nature of the bottom half of the table Palace's victory actually moved them up to 14th, level on points with West Ham whose recent improvement also continued with an equally impressive 3-0 win at Stoke.

The defeat heaped more pressure on Potters boss Mark Hughes and he is now a strong favourite in the Sportsbook's Next Manager to Leave market, available to back at just 3/10.

Swansea - who travel to Everton on Monday night - are the 1.34 favourites in the Relegation market, though Sunday's defeat for West Brom means they are now as short as 2.24 to go down. Newcastle's defeat at Arsenal sawy them slip into the relegation zone and Rafa Benitez's men can be backed at 2.90 to make an immediate return to the Championship.

But expect plenty of change over the Christmas period with the likes of Brighton, 2.94, Bournemouth, 3.80, Huddersfield, 3.95, and Stoke, 4.10 also amongst the fancied clubs to be in a fight to avoid the drop.
