High-flying Dortmund take on rock bottom Monaco

It's been a positive start to the season for Dortmund, who are top of the Bundesliga and won their opening Champions League match against Club Brugge.

Now unbeaten in nine, Dortmund come into this match off the back of two consecutive victories that were highly impressive. Last week's 7-0 home thrashing of Nurnberg was followed by a 4-2 victory away at Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, in which Dortmund recovered from being two goals down at half-time.

New manager Lucien Favre has made a great start and he should be very familiar with his opponents, having spent two seasons in charge of Monaco's Ligue 1 rivals Nice, prior to his appointment at Dortmund. The principality club are in dreadful form, looking like a shadow of the side that reached the semi-final of this competition two seasons ago.

Leonardo Jardim has seen his squad robbed of many of the brightest talents which made up that team. Monaco are now without a win in eight games, losing the last two without scoring a goal.
