Football Bet of the Day: Roman holiday for hosts

After a profitable week so far, Kev hopes to move further into the black with an odds-against winner in Italy.

SPAL won't enjoy capital adventure

Roma v SPAL
Sunday December 15, 17:00
Portuguese pleasure for us on Saturday evening, as Vitoria Setubal's 1-0 win over Aves gave us an odds-against winner. Before the excellent Tobias Gourlay picks up the baton for a fortnight, we'll wrap up our week in Italy. Roma are facing SPAL, and I believe the capital club will win with room to spare.
Roma are still very much in the mix in terms of qualification for the Champions League, and they have reached the last 32 of the Europa League. New coach Paulo Fonseca has lost just two of his 15 Serie A matches in charge, and he is chasing a fourth straight home win in the top flight. The only team to beat Roma on home soil in the league has been Atalanta, who can overwhelm even the best teams on their day.
SPAL are, as expected, battling against the drop. They are bottom of the table, with just nine points collected. On the road, they have really found life tough. SPAL have taken just a point from their seven away games in Serie A, and if it wasn't for the heroics of experienced keeper Etrit Berisha, they'd have been smacked even more often than they already have been.
Remarkably, SPAL beat Roma home and away last term, but I'm expecting a dose of revenge today. I'll back Roma -1.5 on the Asian Handicap at 2.02.
