Kyrgios made it a winning start to the season in Brisbane coming back from a set down in his opening three matches before rolling Ryan Harrison in the final. the French duo of Monfils and Simon won in Doha and Pune respectively but all the big names will be absent this week leaving the door wide open in both Sydney and Auckland. Who will step up…
ATP Sydney Feature Previews
Alexei Popyrin v John MillmanAfter successfully coming through the qualifiers, Aussie teenager Alexei Popyrin will play his first ever match at ATP Tour level. He faces a tough proposition as fellow Aussie John Millman is in fine form. He won on the Challenger Tour in his final tournament last season and had match points against Dimitrov last week in Brisbane. This is a big step up for Popyrin and Millman will see this as a tournament that he can go very deep in. Millman to win in straight sets.
Best Bet: Millman -4.5 (1.73)
Daniil Medvedev v Philipp KohlschreiberThere has been a hint of an upset in the air but The Wolf knows better than to fall in a trap. Despite making the semi’s of the Next Gen Finals and coming through the qualifiers here, The Wolf is not ready to put his hard earned on Medvedev. At one point last season he had lost 8 straight matches and has since lost in the opening round of multiple Challenger level events. Kohlschreiber is far too experienced and is a very smart veteran. He can make adjustments to his game on the run and as he did early last year in Dubai, he will beat Medvedev.
Best Bet: Kohlschreiber WIN ($1.67)
