Newcastle v Central Coast – (Tue 7:50pm)The F3 Derby has rarely disappointed and the Mariners will have marked this one down in the schedule very early on after having been destroyed by the Jets 5-1 in front of their own fans in the opening round. The Mariners did recover scoring 3 wins in 4 games including a win over Sydney FC, but it has been downhill ever since. Winless in their last 5 (3 losses, 2 draws) they have had serious problems scoring goals with just 1 goal in that stretch! The Jets on the other hand can do little wrong. Last week they held Sydney FC to a thrilling 2-2 draw and there can be no questioning their standing as the second best team in the A-League. They have also been one of the most consistent teams in terms of betting. The Overs is 10-0 in their last 10 and they have scored in every game this season. They are superb on the counter and flood 4 men forward (Nabbout, Petratos, Champness & Hoffman) as soon as they win the ball in the middle of the park. The Wolf says they may seem short in the market for a derby but says on form and ability they are leaps and bounds ahead of the Mariners.
Best Bet: Newcastle WIN ($1.67)
Value Bet: Over 3.5 goals ($3.00)
Perth v Melbourne City – (Tue 10:00pm)
When they met in Round 8 The Wolf tipped us into Over 3.5 goals at a price and a 3-1 win to Perth provided us with a healthy return. The Wolf will be doing exactly the same this time around. There have been 4 or more goals in 8 of the last 10 meetings between these two sides at a rate of 4.7 goals per game! The total looks set to be aided by the state of the current Glory defence. They have allowed 9 goals in their last two outings with their opposition virtually walking through them. Kenny Lowe’s frustration has been growing but his players, including Adam Taggart, are sticking right by him. He made his return off the bench last week and is likely to start. It will be a huge boost for Perth who will now have the trio of Keogh, Taggart and Castro. The Wolf does have concerns over Walker and Mills in defence but says all that means is more goals.
Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals ($1.70)
Value Bet: Over 3.5 goals ($2.75)
Wellington v Melbourne Victory – (Wed 5:35pm)The Nix find themselves buried at the bottom of the ladder with just a single win this season and the weekend’s loss to Mebourne City really sums up their season. Krishna scored his 30th goal for the club to give them the lead but they fell asleep twice at the back post in a 10 minute span , allowing McCormack to pounce with a brace. Traditionally they have been able to hold their own at home but that has not been the case this season. They have conceded 17 goals in their 6 home games including at least 3 in 4 of their last 5. What is even more concerning is the fact that Melbourne have scored at least 3 goals in 5 of their last 8 trips across the Tasman. There have been 5 or more goals in the last 5 Phoenix home games and The Wolf says their defence will be broken wide open.
Best Bet: Melbourne Victory WIN ($1.85)
Value Bet: HT/FT – Melbourne/Melbourne ($2.85)
