West Coast used a dominant first quarter to propel them to a 52-point win over Sydney that will further boost what coach Adam Simpson says is a great sense of self-belief.
The Eagles booted five goals to none in the opening term at Domain Stadium, and kept the Swans to just one goal in the first half to open up a 41-point lead at the long break.
They made the most of Sydney's bad luck in losing superstar forward Lance Franklin (back) ahead of the game, and the visitors also missed the injured Kurt Tippett.
In their absence, John Longmire's side were kept to their lowest ever half-time score against West Coast and their half-time score of 1.6 was their second-lowest of the year.
The victory was the Eagles' 12th in their last 13 games and keeps them a game clear of Hawthorn in second place on the ladder. West Coast, who are 7/2 to win the premiership and 1/25 to finish in the top four, will secure a top-four spot if they win three of their last six games.
Simpson says his team believe strongly enough in what they are doing that it allows them to compensate for their bad luck with injuries.
"If you've got belief in what you do and you see some results, I think things can get a bit of momentum and I've seen it over a number of years at different clubs," said the coach.
"I feel like our players have got confidence and belief in what they do and that just keeps rolling onto itself. I don't think it's about what the game plan is. I think it's just they've got belief in it."
Josh Kennedy kicked three goals for the Eagles to extend his lead in the Coleman Medal standings to 12.
The only black mark to come from the game for the home side was a calf injury to Will Schofield, who was subbed out at three-quarter time.
