Football Bet of the Day: Charleroi have a Sporting chance

There was late drama in Istanbul last night, as Basaksehir took an 89th-minute lead, only for the hosts Besiktas to equalise deep into stoppage-time. All very interesting for those directly involved, but annoying for us, as we backed the hosts to win.

With a sour taste in our mouths we head to Belgium, because there's an intriguing clash between the bottom side Oostende and high-flying Sporting Charleroi.

Oostende have lost all five of their home matches this term, and they have only collected five points from their first 11 matches. They have the worst attack (ten goals scored) and the second-worst defence (20 goals conceded) in the division.

Oostende's awful start to the season must be a touch jarring for their fans, as they had a very successful season last term. They finished fourth in the standings, and reached the Belgian cup final, where they lost to Zulte Waregem.

Sporting Charleroi finished fifth last term, but unlike Oostende they have carried on their fine work. They are second in the standings, having only lost once so far. On the road they are unbeaten, with three wins and two draws.

Sporting are the outsiders here, which is curious given the current form and standing of the two teams. They are trading at 3.15 for the win, so I'm happy to back them with a bit of insurance.
