It has been a week full of bad news for the Victory. They went down to arch rivals Sydney after taking the lead and will be without Geria who was sent from the field. It doesn’t end with club captain Mark Milligan departing for Saudi Arabia. His move to Al-Ahli leaves a big hole to fill in the middle of the park with Terry Antonis tipped to get the start. The calm head, experience and ball winning ability of Milligan will be sorely missed. Troisi is likely to step back into a deeper role alongside Valeri but they are likely to be more vulnerable on the counter. It won’t take us ling to see if that is the case as the Jets are one of, if not the most effective side on the counter. The Jets have scored multiple goals in 7 of their last 8 matches and remain the only side to have scored in all 18 matches this season. The home side has won 4 of the last 5 and The Wolf likes the Jets to get the job done against a Victory side that will need to make significant adjustments in the coming weeks.

Outside of that they have conceded just 1 other goal in a 5 game stretch and they continue to show tremendous fight and team unity. Scoring continues to be their biggest issue but a single goal from Blackwood was enough to earn all 3 points in Wellington last week. They have now scored more than once in only 1 of their last 8 and The Wolf says they will again be relying on their defence when they host the Glory. Perth may have ended a 5 game losing streak with a win over the Wanderers but they will have to wait to build on that result. They have lost 8 of their last 11 away games in the A-League and have conceded a mammoth 12 goals across their last 3 trips. Adelaide will post back to back wins for just the second time this season.

Fornaroli will be back sooner rather than later but until then The Wolf says they will do well to put pressure on opposing defences. It leaves the door open for the Roar to register a 3rd straight win. Holman has proved to be a real threat in recent weeks, striking combinations with both McKay and Maccarone. The experience of North and Papadopoulos will allow the Roar to build from the back and they should be able to shut down a City attack missing it’s best weapon.
