Problems for Bayern, but bigger issues at Anderlecht

Bayern come into this match off the back of a defeat, having lost 2-0 to Hoffenheim at the weekend. This follows a pre-season campaign that was littered with losses, as AC Milan, Inter, Liverpool and Napoli all beat the Bundesliga champions without conceding a goal.

It's too early to read too much into Bayern's first competitive defeat of the season, but with Thomas Muller badly out of form and the likes of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben reaching the latter stages of their careers, there is a sense that there is a major rebuilding stage ahead for a club with key performers now past their best.

Their opponents Anderlecht won on Friday night, but are nevertheless facing their own problems. It was only their second victory from six league games and they are currently tenth in the 16-team Belgian top flight.

Rene Weller's team beat Lokeren 3-2 to climb the table after their poor start, but have struggled to score goals this season. With just six league goals, Anderlecht have failed to find the net on four occasions.

Bayern will surely bounce back with a win against an Anderlecht team in erratic form, yet there is little point in backing a home victory at odds as short as 1.11.
