Ajax v Valencia: Go Dutch with a group winning victory
Dan Fitch is expecting Ajax to get the win they need, but is also banking on Valencia being able to find the net.
Ajax 1.69 v Valencia 5.10; The Draw 4.50 Tuesday 10 December, 20:00 Live on BT Sport 3
Group H goes to the wire
Three teams still have a chance of winning Group H as they go into their final games on Tuesday.
Two of them meet in Amsterdam, as the current leaders Ajax host second placed Valencia. With third placed Chelsea expected to win their home match against Lille, one of Ajax or Valencia could drop down into the Europa League spot.
Ajax just need to avoid defeat to make the last-16, although a draw might see them qualify in second place rather than first. They suffered their first defeat of the season in the Eredivisie over the weekend when they were beaten 2-0 at home by Willem II. It was only their second loss of the season, with the other also coming at home to Chelsea in this competition.
Valencia beat Levante 4-2 away from home on Saturday. Though eighth in La Liga, they are only a point behind fourth placed Real Sociedad, having recovered from a slow start to the season which saw Marcelino sacked and replaced by Albert Celades.
Ajax can claim win but may concede
Ajax won the reverse fixture 3-0 and despite their defeat at the weekend, have to be favoured to claim the victory they need to top the group.
The price of 1.69 does not appeal however. Valencia are an improved side since last meeting Ajax and the key to finding better value could lie in an impressive statistic that has followed the October fixture: after failing to score at home to the Dutch giants, Valencia have scored in each of their last 12 games.
An Ajax win and both teams to score can be backed at 2.96.
