Montpellier v Monaco (13th v 1st)
Tue, 18:00 GMT
Live on BT Sport 3

Monaco are a good bet at close to evens to triumph against bottom-half opposition on Tuesday night.

The Principality outfit moved three points clear at the top of the table thanks to their 3-0 win over derby rivals and nearest challengers Nice on Saturday afternoon. It was the latest remarkable demonstration of clinical attacking football from Leonardo Jardim's side, who are averaging nearly three goals a game in Ligue 1.

New Montpellier coach Jean-Louis Gasset made a winning start in the post when he oversaw his side's 2-1 victory over Bastia on Saturday. Yet Montpellier didn't impress, and Gasset, a pragmatist, may be more concerned about the relegation six-pointer at Nancy this coming weekend than attempting to stop the Monaco juggernaut on Tuesday night.

With the Champions League on the horizon Monaco may rotate, but given the quality of some of their understudies (Alamamy Toure, Joao Moutinho, Gabriel Boschilia, Kylian Mbappe) that's hardly cause for concern. Back the visitors to record their 17th win of the season.

Lorient v Toulouse (20th v 10th)
Wed, 18:00 GMT

Toulouse produced their best performance in weeks to thrash Angers 4-0 at the weekend and are a good bet to pick up something from this trip to face bottom club Lorient.

The market has Toulouse are big as 3.50 (Lorient are 2.38 favourites) and that makes little sense looking at the Ligue 1 table and based on how Toulouse played at the weekend. True, Lorient picked up an impressive win at the weekend as well - they were 1-0 victors at Lille - but the emphatic nature of Toulouse's triumph and the confidence the players will have gained from it should not be underestimated.

Toulouse manager Pascal Dupraz was bold in his team selection, picking January signings Andy Delort (£5.2m from Tigres) and Corentin Jean (on loan from Monaco) alongside eight-goal top scorer Martin Braithwaite. The trio contributed two goals and an assist between them, and their presence on the pitch sent out a clear message to the rest of the Toulouse team to take an attacking approach.

Lorient have leaked 26 goals in 11 matches (2.36 goals a game) since Bernard Casoni was appointed manager last November so Toulouse ought to get plenty of scoring chances. Over 2.5 Goals and 'Yes' in the Both Teams to Score? markets are worth considering at 2.10 and 1.84 respectively, but our main selection is on Toulouse picking up something from the game.

Angers v Rennes / Bastia v Nantes
Wed, 18:00 GMT

If you're looking for an Under 2.5 Goals double on the notoriously low-scoring Ligue 1 this midweek, this is the smart selection.

Angers lost 4-0 at Toulouse on Saturday so their priority on Wednesday night will be defending better. They're far from prolific, either: averaging less than a goal a game, they're Ligue 1's third lowest scorers. Rennes are not doing much better: they're averaging just a goal a game.

Bastia v Nantes also has low-scoring potential. Bastia are averaging less than a goal a game and are likely to take a fairly cautious approach to this relegation six-pointer following their 2-1 defeat in a relegation clash at Montpellier at the weekend. Nantes specialise in low-scoring encounters: nine of 10 games against Ligue 1 opposition in all competitions have had under 2.5 goals since Sergio Conceicao was appointed manager in December.

For those that simply want the cold, hard stats, 61 of 92 games (66%) involving these sides this season have featured under 2.5 goals. On that basis alone, the odds-against price on the double is worth taking.
