Inter v Napoli

After an astonishing 48 goals were scored last weekend in Serie A, we could be in for another lively round as we head for the denouement of what's been an interesting, yet ultimately predictable season.

Optimists would have hoped to see either Inter or Napoli throwing down a challenge to Juventus, and while Napoli have had their moments, and are at least in with a good chance of a second placed finish, Inter started badly, then showed real promise, but have started to fade away again.

Stefano Pioli's team showed their uncanny ability to shoot themselves in the foot once again last weekend. Travelling to a Fiorentina team who had suffered a shock defeat by Empoli the previous week, they somehow contrived to concede five goals and lose an extraordinary game.

They are now five without a win since the 7-1 victory against Atalanta, and begin this weekend 15 points adrift of third placed Napoli.

Maurizio Sarri's side were horrified to throw away two points at Sassuolo last Sunday morning, and they will want to make it five wins out of five to finish the season, and hope that second placed Roma slip up.

Napoli are justifiable favourites here, but 2.24 is short enough for me: they showed their defensive weakness once again in Sassuolo, and Inter are capable of being very good or very bad. If they bounce back to form this Sunday night, then they're more than capable of justifying support at 3.20.

The one certainty would seem to be that we'll have goals, and I'm surprised to see Over 3.5 Goals as big as 2.40. Napoli have proved themselves to be the most potent team in the division, outscoring even Roma by three, while that nine-goal thriller last week was one of six of Inter's last eight games which have had at least four goals (the other two finished 2-1).

So it may not be original, but I think that it has every chance of succeeding. Back goals at San Siro on Sunday night.

Torino v Sampdoria

Goals also seem on the cards in Turin on Saturday night. Torino were back to form last week in Verona against Chievo, and made it nine out of ten matches which have featured Over 3.5 Goals, while Sampdoria were frustrated to lose at home against Crotone, having been a goal up.

Samp's last four games have all gone Over 2.5 Goals, and with these two both effectively chasing a place in the top half, with little other pressure on them, I could see this being another wide open game.

There's the added subplot of Andrea Belotti chasing the Capocannoniere crown, and having missed out at Chievo, Torino will be keen to get him on the scoresheet and add to his 25 goals. Torino have scored seven goals in their last two home games against Samp, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue.

The price available for Over 3.5 Goals seems short enough, but given the likelihood of that eventuality, 2.10 is fair enough.

Roma v Lazio

It's strange to see Roma and Lazio going head to head on a Sunday lunchtime, but such is the nature of this fixture these days, that it's probably the most sensible time to play it.

Roma just haven't been able to keep pace with Juventus, but have been the most gallant challengers, while this is the season that Simone Inzaghi has proved his mettle at Lazio, guiding them to fourth after taking over just before the season began.

I'm sorry to sound like a broken record, but I think that there'll be goals here as well: Lazio grabbed six against Palermo last weekend, and the goal make ups of their last four games have been: 8, 4, 3 and 5. Roma themselves are full of goals, have scored at least twice in the last four Serie A derbies, and I think that we'll see something similar to the Cup semi-final second leg at the start of the month, when Roma won 3-2.

I'm not convinced that this weekend will necessarily challenge the last matchday in terms of overall goals scored, but sticking with the prospect of goals in these three games at least should be a useful ploy for us.
