The resurgence of Venus Williams continues as the 37 year old looks to make her 3rd Grand Slam final of the year! Despite compiling a 34-10 record she is yet to claim a title this season and The Wolf does question her ability to go the distance here. She ran out of gas against both Serena and Muguruza in her two biggest matches of the year and has had a much tougher path this time around. We have seen her pushed to a deciding set in 3 of her 5 matches and the slower conditions aren’t ideal for her game. The American hard court swing has brought about a complete turn around in form for Stephens. She claimed 3 titles last year but had a very slow start to 2017. She made the semi’s in both Montreal and Cincinnati leading into the US Open and she has continued to fight her way past opponents. Both ladies have big power games but it is Sloane who is the superior athlete at this stage. Sloane won their only previous meeting which came on a clay court in a match where she played very well behind her first serve. The crowd will be treated to a thrilling 3 setter with Sloane to get the better of Venus late on.

Coco Vandeweghe v Madison Keys
Consistency has been the name of the game this season for Vandeweghe who made the semi’s of the Australian Open before a run to the quarters at Wimbledon. She is looking to go one better in New York and there is no doubt that she has improved her clutch play since Pat Cash came on board as her coach. One of the biggest servers on the women’s tour she is not utilising the weight of he serve by playing aggressive behind it. She is 3-0 in breakers in the tournament and The Wolf says we could see multiple sets go the distance in this one. Aggressive is the best way to describe the game of Keys. She does not hold back from either wing and we have already seen her beat Coco twice this season. Both matches went over the total and Coco has been the queen of the Overs during this tournament going 5-0! The Wolf is predicting one of the most memorable nights of women’s tennis. Keys to take it in a tight one.
