Group E wide open
Spartak Moscow's shock 5-1 thrashing of Sevilla in the last round of games has thrown Group E wide open.
Sevilla were previously top of the group having beaten Maribor and gained a very useful point at Anfield against Liverpool. The defeat in Russia saw them slip down to third place, behind unbeaten Spartak and the new leaders Liverpool who crushed Maribor by a 7-0 scoreline.
Just four days after that heavy defeat to Spartak, Eduardo Berizzo's side suffered another humiliation as they lost 4-0 to Valencia. They have since bounced back with a 2-1 victory over Leganes at the weekend, but the wounds of these losses must surely still be fresh.
Spartak may have reignited their hopes of making the knockout stages of the Champions League with that win against Sevilla, but their domestic form remains erratic. They have drawn their last two league games which has brought their total of draws to seven in 15 matches, leaving them sixth in the Russian Premier League.
Take advantage of big price for the draw
Sevilla are the 1.53 favourites, with the draw at 4.90 and Spartak at 6.60.
It's fair to say that the hosts are a slim price for a team that were beaten so soundly by their opposition only two weeks ago. The draw is very tempting though when you consider the amount of stalemates that Spartak have had, including two in this group stage already.
If you think that Spartak can beat Sevilla again, the 2.84 on offer for them in the double chance market remains weighty enough to invest in.
