Liverpool are now as short as 1.34 in the Premier League Winner market after stretching their lead to 11 points at the top of the table while closest pursuers Manchester City and Chelsea both dropped points.

The Reds - who have been matched at a high of 5.00 to win their first ever Premier League title - knew that victory over Brighton on Saturday afternoon would lengthen their advantage over Man City after Pep Guardiola's men could manage only a 2-2 in their lunch time kick-off at Newcastle.

Jurgen Klopp's men looked to be cruising to victory when two Virgil van Dijk headers gave them an early 2-0 lead, but stubborn Brighton got themselves back into the game when Alisson was dismissed for handling the ball outside of his area before Lewis Dunk scored a free-kick shortly after.

Substitute goalkeeper Adrian and his team's defence clearly looked nervous as the game wore on but the Reds hung on for a crucial victory.

Lacklustre Citizens fall short again

Earlier in the day Manchester City dropped two points despite leading twice against Newcastle thanks to Raheem Sterling's first half goal and Kevin de Bruyne's thunderous effort close to full-time.

But on both occasions the Magpies hit back almost instantly, first through Jetro Willems and then in the 88th minute when former Liverpool midfielder JonJo Shelvey scored his own long-range effort.

The Citizes have now dropped 13 points this season and look to have a tall task to cut back the deficit that they trail Liverpool. Guardiola's men can be backed at 4.80 to retain their title.

With Chelsea - now out to 150.00 to win the title - surprisingly losing at home to struggling West Ham it means that should Leicester beat Everton on Sunday afternoon then the Foxes will move three points clear of third place and move to within eight points of Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers' men can be backed at 22.00 to win their second Premier League title in four season.

Flores sacked by Watford for a second time

Following Watford's 2-1 defeat to Southampton on Saturday evening Quique Sanchez Flores has been sacked for a second time from the club, his departure this time coming less than three months into the job.

The Hornets are rock bottom of the Premier League and fully six points form safety, and are trading at 1.38 in the Premier League Relegation market.

A club statement today said a successor will be made imminently, and the Betfair Sportsbook believe that man to be Chris Hughton who is the overwhelming favourite at 4/11 to take over at Vicarage Road. Paul Clement is 5/1 and it's 12/1 bar the pair.
