Lyon manager Herbert Fournier has expressed his disappointment over the departure of attacker Clinton N'Jie to Premier League club Tottenham.
A product of Lyon's youth academy, the Cameroon international is expected to complete his move to White Hart Lane in the coming days, having already flown to north London to complete his medical.
Njie was an influential part of Forunier's squad last season, netting seven league goals in 30 Ligue 1 appearances, and the manager admits the player's immanent departure is a huge loss for Les Gones.
"(Talks are) still well advanced. The sums involved are considerable for a young player like Clinton,” Fournier told Ligue 1's official website.
“It is a mixture of satisfaction and disappointment to lose a player who still has significant room for growth. Ideally, one would like to always keep our good players. But the ideal is rarely appropriate.
“We must adapt. There is an economic reality that affects 19 clubs in France, there is only one who does not have these problems.”
