Castleford Tigers centre Michael Shenton is confident that the team can build on their narrow victory over Hull FC in the opening round of the Super 8s.
The Tigers emerged victorious from a narrow contest with the Airlie Birds to maintain their challenge for the top four. They welcome Warrington Wolves to the Mend-a-Hose Jungle on Thursday evening, and Shenton is anticipating a tough battle.
"They will definitely be wanting to make up for their loss to Leeds. But we owe Warrington one. We owed Hull one - they've both embarrassed us this year - and it'd be a great time to make amends for our loss last time around," he said, referring to the Wolves' recent win over Castleford before the end of the regular season.
"It was pretty pleasing to get the win against Hull, but there were mistakes in there, and we have to focus on improving that against Warrington. We can't afford to continue doing that in these Super 8s games."
Shenton scored four tries, including a first-half hat-trick in just 14 minutes, to put the hosts on course for victory over Hull. But the former Saints man was happy to deflect the praise on to his team-mates.
"To show the character we did to get back into it was great. The boys really dug in, our halves put the ball where it needed to be," he said. "Justin Carney's chase and just his energy throughout, for me, got us the win."
Victory for the Tigers will ensure they keep up the pressure on Huddersfield Giants in fourth, who lost to Wigan Warriors last week.
Castleford are 5/2 to beat Warrington by more than 13 points on Thursday while a Wolves win by between one and 12 points can be backed at 11/4.
