NRL Preview
Wests Tigers v Penrith Panthers

Sunday, March 12, 4pm (AEDT), Campbelltown Stadium, Sydney

Outside of the Dragons, the Tigers were one of the most impressive sides in Round 1, while the Panthers were easily the most disappointing. Both sides have plenty of exciting attacking weapons and a shootout in Campbelltown is expected.
History
The Tigers have won 8 of the past 11 matches against the Panthers and have won four straight against them at Campbelltown Stadium. The last three clashes between the sides has seen 47+ points scored.
Form
The Tigers started the season with a bang with a dominant 34-18 win over rivals South Sydney at ANZ. James Tedesco was sublime and showed he may be the most dangerous attacking weapon in the premiership in a one-try, two-assist effort. The Panthers by contrast were the worst team of Round 1, suffering an embarrassing 42-10 loss to the Dragons. Penrith missed a remarkable 48 tackles with Bryce Cartwright leading the way with seven.
Key Matchup
Mitchell Moses v Te Maire Martin. Moses was one of the most improved players in 2016 and will been keen to repay the Tigers faithful after the club decided to hold on to him and let Martin move on. Martin is a dynamic player in attack, but is a liability in defence and was targeted by the Dragons, making 30 tackles for the match.
Stats That Matter
Wests Tigers covered and went over in Round 1 while Penrith didn’t cover and went over. Home underdogs cover at 66% in the first four rounds dating back to 2008 with the under hitting at 57% in matches with a home underdog getting 3.5 or less. The last three games between the two teams topped 47 points. The Tigers are 6-10 ATS with an 11-5 under record at Campbelltown since 2013. The Tigers are 12-4 under off a win over the last four seasons. Teams off losses of 20 or more cover at 58% in the first four rounds over the last four years while since 2008 teams who concede 40 in the first four rounds cover at 64%.
Final Thoughts
The Tigers have a strong record over the Panthers, but The Wolf is a big fan of the bounce back factor. The Panthers can’t be as bad as they were against the Dragons and since 2008, teams who concede 40 in the first four rounds cover at 64%. If we get a dry track it should be a cracker, with great match-ups all over the park.
