Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney says the whole squad have been given a lift by Louis van Gaal's summer signings.
Rooney paid particular tribute to German World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger, insisting it is a major coup that the midfielder chose to leave Bayern Munich in favour of Old Trafford.
"Bastian is a very experienced player who has won everything in the game and it's great that he has chosen to join us and left a team like Bayern Munich to come here," Rooney told MUTV.
The England skipper feels the fact there will be no language barrier for Schweinsteiger should ensure he can settle in and make a positive impact as Man United, 6.00 to win the title, look to build on van Gaal's first season in charge.
"Bastian speaks very good English so that's a boost for the squad, too. He's a fantastic player, he's shown that over the years and it's great that we've got him and I'm sure he'll be a good player for us," said the striker.
Man United open the new season with a home game against Tottenham, which they are 1.66 to win.
Rooney is delighted with all the summer signings to date and he feels there are "exciting times" ahead.
"It's exciting times and I'm sure over the next week or two it'll be great for us to get some training sessions in and get to know each other's games," Rooney said.
"We had the day we first flew out when we first met Bastian and Morgan and they've settled in as well as they can do in a couple of days. It's great to have them with us."
Man United are 2.75 to be top North West club next season.
