Greater Western Sydney are back in the top eight after seeing off St Kilda by 35 points at Spotless Stadium.
The Giants snapped a three-game losing run thanks to a five-goal haul from Jeremy Cameron that boosted his prospects of winning the Coleman Medal.
Cameron sits second in the medal standings with 42 goals for the season, eight behind West Coast's Josh Kennedy.
GWS looked vulnerable at three-quarter time, with the Saints having closed to within 16 points as the home side failed to kick a goal in the third term.
But Leon Cameron's side, who are 126.00 to win the premiership, responded with a four-goal effort in the fourth quarter, leaving the coach pleased.
"It's a big win for our young ruckmen and our midfielders as well," he said. "It was our best contested game of football for a while which has been a concern for a number of weeks.
"I'm pleased our tackle count nearly hit 100, so to get that right was a step in the right direction."
The Giants will hope for good news on star midfielder Dylan Shiel, who was subbed out of the game after picking up a knee injury when kicking the first goal of the second quarter.
Cameron was impressed by Stephen Coniglio's performance in his first game back from a shoulder injury, as he laid a game-high 16 tackles and picked up 26 possessions.
Callan Ward and Adam Treloar both hit the 30-possession mark as the home side won the contested football count 159-142.
St Kilda, having been boosted by the previous week's thrashing of Essendon, were limited to just six goals.
Coach Alan Richardson was unhappy that his side failed to maximise their opportunity when they were on top in the third quarter.
"It was frustration but I was pleased the boys were able to respond like they did," he added. "I reckon the last quarter summed up the game; they were just better than us. They were tougher and much better in the contest and they ran a bit harder than we did."
Meanwhile, Port Adelaide are 1.62 to win their Showdown clash with Adelaide, who are 2.30.
