Injury absences on both sides
Manchester United need only a draw to be sure of claiming top spot in Group A so manager Jose Mourinho may consider fielding a weakened side. Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are injury doubts having sat out their side's 4-1 Premier League win over Newcastle United on Saturday.

For the visitors veteran midfielder Taulant Xhaka is suspended while Dutch striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel is ruled out through injury.

United the smart pick at odds-against
With Manchester United needing only a point to claim top spot in the group there's obviously a risk to backing the visitors to win. Yet the odds-against price on a United victory is a good opportunity to back them at a big price considering the obvious gulf between these two sides in the group phase so far.

United have won four out of four games, scoring 10 times and conceding just once. They're clearly stronger than Basel, Spartak Moscow and Benfica and ran out easy 3-0 winners when the sides first met at Old Trafford in September.

Basel are locked in a battle with Spartak Moscow for second place in the group - both teams have six points - but nothing in that performance at Old Trafford suggested they'll be good enough to avoid defeat.

Goals market hard to read
United have been in magnificent scoring form this season and broke the 2.5 goal barrier on their own with their 3-0 win over Basel in the first meeting between the teams in September.

With a strong complement of attacking players to pick from Mourinho can field a team with the potential to blow away Basel if he wants to.

It's worth remembering, however, that United don't need to win. They can afford to sit back and let Basel come at them, which may see United attack occasionally rather than incessantly.

Given that it's hard to know exactly what tactical approach the visitors will adopt, the Under/Over 2.5 Goals market is best left alone.

Visitors offer good defensive value
We fancy Man Utd to collect all three points - but if you fancy even bigger odds on a win for the Premier League side then the Man Utd win to Nil market is worth considering.

Mourinho's outfit have conceded just once in four Champions League group games so far and will be keen to frustrate Basel for as long as possible in order to extinguish the hosts' hopes of getting anything out of the game.

There are team news issues in defence for United, but Basel have scored just five times in their four group games to date so are a side of limited firepower.

When the Man Utd to win to Nil market has liquidity, 'Yes' should be available at odds of around 3.30.
