Alderweireld out, Eriksen quiet of late

It's been a strange few weeks for Tottenham. From the dizzy heights of beating Real Madridat home and Dortmund away to the disappointment of losing ground to Manchester United for second place and the agony of a defeat to rivals Arsenal. They had the lion's share of possession in that match but couldn't do much with it.
Sandwiched in between those games was a 1-0 win at home to Crystal Palace where they were lacklustre but at least got the job done.
The loss of Toby Alderweireld is a big blow. It means Mauricio Pochettino can't play his preferred 3-4-2-1 or if he does, he needs to employ Eric Dier as his third centre-back. Which then leaves him a little vulnerable in midfield because no-one else can play the holding role quite as well as the former Sporting Lisbon man.
He could do with a good contribution from Christian Eriksen here. Many will have seen his brilliance for Denmark in the play-offs but Fantasy Football managers know it's four Premier League matches without a goal or an assist from him.

Give the 'other' O'Neill a go

At the time of writing, West Brom are managerless with Alan Pardew favourite to get the job and Martin O'Neill the second-favourite. It's hard to see the appeal of the former. By the time he left Newcastle for Palace the Toon Army were happy to see him go and things were hardly any better when he was sacked by Crystal Palace in December of last year with the club in 17th. As one to court controversy wherever he goes, whereas West Brom are quite a low-key sort of club, it doesn't exactly seem like a match made in heaven.
Why not give Michael O'Neill (20.0) a chance? He may lack Premier League experience but did as good a job with Northern Ireland as could be expected with limited playing resources and in Jonny Evans, Chris Brunt and Gareth McCauley, knows three of WBA's senior players extremely well.

Outright home win too short

Whoever comes in should have an easier time sorting out the defence than getting goals out of his attacking players. They've looked lethargic and uninspired all season.
The hosts make little appeal at 2/9. At that sort of price you've got to be reckoning it's going to be a pretty easy win but as stated already, Spurs have been inconsistent of late.
Last week we successfully backed Chelsea to win to nil against West Brom at 6/4; that was based on the belief that the Baggies' forwards wouldn't cause Chelsea's defence too many problems. This week you can get 10/11 on Spurs repeating the trick but that also looks a little on the short side.

Modest home win

It was 'job done' on Tuesday night but that comeback win in Dortmund will have taken a lot out of the Spurs players. Given the likes of Eriksen, Vertonghen and Harry Winks were also heavily involved during the international break, there might start to be some tired legs in the side.
So we might not see the dominant and goal-filled Spurs performance some might expect.
It's true that Tottenham have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight but those matches included opponents such as Real Madrid (twice), Manchester United, Dortmund and Arsenal. West Brom aren't in that category of danger and you can cover Spurs 1-0 or 2-0 by backing Tottenham to win and under 2.5 goals in the match at 21/10.

Poor value on home goalscorers

The Betfair Sportsbook 'to score' market is one to avoid this week. Harry Kane is just 1/2 despite the fact he's only scored in one of his last four PL games and Dele Alli is a stingy price as well at 13/10 for someone with just three goals in the league this season. Try your luck on the Exchange and see if you can get matched at 3.00 or bigger on Alli but that 13/10 really is one to avoid.

Ref Watch

Mike Jones is the man in the middle. He averages almost exactly four yellows a game and showed one red in a Championship match at the beginning of November.
Northern Irish duo Evans and Brunt have each been booked three times this season and might be worth a look on the 'to be shown a card' market.
