Kovac on brink as Bayern wobble

Bayern Munich are top of Group E, but their domestic form is poor and Niko Kovac's job is already at risk.
Kovac only joined the club in the summer, yet is under real pressure, as he struggles to organise the Bayern defence. A 3-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund prior to the international break was followed by a 3-3 draw at home to Fortuna Dusseldorf at the weekend, in which the reigning champions twice surrendered a two goal lead.
These results have left Bayern in fifth, some twelve points behind the leaders Dortmund. Club president Uni Hoeness has stated that Kovac will still be in charge for the match against Benfica, but the fact that he likened the first goal that Bayern conceded on Saturday as something from 'slapstick movies', hardly bodes well for the manager's future.
Benfica need a win if they are to stand any chance of making the last-16. They have only won one of their group games and have generally struggled to find consistency this season, with Benfica currently fourth in the Primeira Liga.

Big price for Bayern to concede again

With Bayern Munich showing so much instability in defence, the value in this match can surely be found in the goals markets.
Bayern have now conceded six goals in their last two games and in their last twelve matches, they have only kept two clean sheets, which both came against the Group E whipping boys AEK Athens. Benfica drew a blank against Bayern in the reverse fixture, but have found the net in each of their last four games and will be looking to take advantage of Bayern's precarious morale. Back both teams to score at 1.95.
