Last night was the football equivalent of someone offering you a Toblerone, and then as you reach for it, they smash you in the face with it. Our boys Basel led 2-1 in the sixth minute of stoppage time, but then Sion grabbed an equaliser.
With heavy hearts, we leave Switzerland but we'll hope to forget our woes by watching the conclusion one of the season's most exciting promotion battles. Six teams are still in the mix to go up, with leaders Strasbourg on 64 points, and sixth-placed Nimes on 61.
The game we'll focus on is between Reims and second-placed Amiens. Reims were relegated from the top flight last season, and would've been in the mix for an instant return to the top flight had they not fallen away in the last few weeks. A run of one win in eight has torpedoed their chances, but they might be able to help us pick up a decent winner.
Reims aren't on great form, but the pressure's now off them, and they don't lose too many games. They have been beaten just four times this season at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II, and they've only lost three of their last 11 home matches. In the reverse fixture they managed to grind out a 1-1 draw at Amiens, despite playing 85 minutes with ten men.
Amiens are the form team in Ligue 2, having won their last five matches, but I still don't feel they should be trading at 1.60 to win this. They have only won four of their last 12 away games, and they needed late goals to win their last two road matches at Brest and Sochaux. Amiens only won promotion from the third tier last season, and with the big time now within touching distance, they are under enormous pressure.
