NRL Preview
Sydney Roosters v Parramatta Eels

Sunday, May 14, 4pm (AEST), Allianz Stadium, Sydney

The Roosters will be happy to get back on the football field and the put the Shaun Kenny-Dowall saga behind them. SKD has been stood down indefinitely, with Latrell Mitchell returning to the side. The Eels remain unchanged from the side which defeated the Cowboys in Round 9, although fullback Bevan French has been named on an extended bench.
History
The Roosters have won 7 of their last 10 against the Eels, however they lost the most recent clash 22-18 at Parramatta Stadium in 2016. Both Latrell Mitchell and Manu Ma’u scored doubles for their respective sides.
Form
The Sydney Roosters have won just 2 of their last 5 after opening the season with four straight wins. Attack has been the issue with the Chooks being held to 14 or fewer in 5 of their last 7 clashes. Their defence has matched that though keeping opponents to 14 or fewer in 5 of their last 7. Parramatta have won three on the trot with wins over the Tigers, Panthers and Cowboys. The Eels have scored more than 26 just once this year. The Eels have conceded more than 22 in 3 of their last 4 away from ANZ.
Key Matchup
Mitchell Pearce v Corey Norman. Pearce was almost the hero for a consecutive week, kicking yet another field goal to put the Roosters ahead, before a late Warriors penalty goal handed the Roosters a 14-13 loss. Pearce will push his NSW Origin claims with another strong performance here, with both Adam Reynolds and Matt Moylan playing inconsistent football at best. Norman has been outstanding for the Eels this season and has put a turbulent 2016 behind him. He appears to be in a three-way race with Anthony Milford and Daly Cherry-Evans for the Queensland No.7 jersey if Johnathan Thurston doesn’t recover from a shoulder injury in time for Game 1. Both players could meet again in Origin 1 with strong games here.
Stats That Matter
Sydney Roosters are 4-5 ATS with a 6-3 under number while Parramatta are 5-4 ATS with a 6-3 under number. The Roosters have won 7 of their last 10 against the Eels. Six of the last seven clashes have topped 40 points. The Roosters have won the last four against the Eels, all by double digits. The Chooks are 23-21 ATS at Allianz. The Eels have covered 7 of their last 9 day matches.
Final Thoughts
The Wolf tipped the Roosters to win the competition before the start of the season and thought they were extremely unlucky to not get the cash in NZ last time out. He’s not jumping off them now and think they have a strong advantage in the forwards. If anything, the Eels rely too heavily on Norman and the Roosters will do their best to shut him down and put him under pressure throughout the 80 minutes. This should be a beauty and The Wolf can see the home side running down the gallant Eels.
