Inter Milan midfielder Hernanes believes the Serie A side has a bright future and is confident they are good enough to compete for trophies this season.
The once great Italian club has suffered from mediocrity since Jose Mourinho left his post as manager in 2010 to join Real Madrid.
They have not qualified for the Champions League since finishing second in the league in the 2010/11 season and have not won Serie A since the previous year.
However, Hernanes believes the team is now on the up and has warned their rivals to keep an eye on them this campaign.
"I see a team that's growing all the time. I think it's going to be our year more than my year," the Brazil international told Mediaset.
Internazionale's pre-season results do not suggest much has changed in the summer, but Hernanes pointed out friendly matches are about gelling as a team, not winning at all costs.
"It's all part of the process of growth," he said. "We're working to get better. It's not about beating other teams at the moment but on improving ourselves."
