Juventus have confirmed that new signing Sami Khedira is set to miss around two months after picking up a thigh injury in a pre-season friendly.
The midfielder joined the Bianconeri on a free transfer from Real Madrid earlier this off-season, but was forced off in the 25th minute of Saturday's friendly against Marseille.
Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri had hoped Khedira would only miss this weekend's Supercoppa Italiana against Lazio, but the club confirmed he is set for a much longer absence.
A club statement read: "Sami Khedira will be sidelined for approximately two months after medical examinations revealed a second-grade myotendinous tear of the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh.
"The German midfielder sustained the injury during last Saturday's pre-season friendly against Olympique Marseille at the Stade Velodrome."
