Soon-to-be former Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria has revealed that he’s “very happy” to be joining Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, as per BBC Sport.
Di Maria, 27, is all set to join the French giants after a torrid year in England with Manchester United and has completed his medical with PSG in Qatar. However, neither club has yet formally announced the deal has gone through and nor has a fee been agreed, according to the Mirror.
The same report claims that Man United are digging their heels in over the deal and are holding out for more than £45 million for the Argentine winger.
Despite that, it looks certain that he will join Paris Saint-Germain after speaking publicly about the move, telling the world how happy he is to be signing for the French side.
"I am very happy to join Paris St-Germain,"said Di Maria.
"They’re very important."
PSG won four out a possible five trophies last season with the Champions League the only one evading them. And Di Maria has already stated his desire to go ahead and help the French side win Europe’s biggest competition.
He did it in his final year at Real Madrid before joining Man Utd, who needed his help to get back into the tournament for the coming season.
Di Maria added: "They [PSG] made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, so my objective was to arrive to Paris and to help them through the quarter-final barrier, because they have struggled in the past two seasons.
"I will try to do the best I can to help the club in those objectives and reach the final stages of the Champions League."
Di Maria’s time in Manchester was tough on him and his family. They struggled to settle as he found life on the pitch difficult, too, scoring just three goals in the Premier League all season.
Then again, Di Maria proved himself an assist machine even when out of form. Following on from the 17 goals the midfielder set up during the 2013/14 La Liga campaign, he provided 10 for the Red Devils in the Premier League last term. Across the whole division, only Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas and Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla could beat that tally.
